Hot Stuff and Cool Things

The hottest and coolest products that no-one needs, but everyone should have...

1 Aston Martin V8 Vantage
Aston Martin V8 Vantage

The entry-level Aston Martin V8 Vantage is a stunning car, more so than the DB9 and even the Vanquish. Stunning not only in looks, but also in performance which is near identical to both the DB9 and the Vanquish, but perhaps more importantly the performance is on a par with the Porsche 911, the closest true rival and the car from which Aston is hoping to steal a few sales. It has already lapped the Nurburgring faster than a 911 (997) and it easily beats it on looks and interior.

2 Microsoft Xbox 360
The new Xbox looks set to move the standard of gameplay and graphics to a new level with three processors and the ability to generate 500 million polygons per second and a Floating Point Performance of 1 teraflop. Whilst the range of the games on the Xbox has let it down in comparison to the Playstation, some of the games that have been produced have been absolutely superb, such as Halo, Project Gotham Racing and Forza Motorsport and these standards should only improve further with the 360. The Xbox 360 will also play DVDs and will allow players to compete against each other online through Xbox Live.

5 Alcohol Breath Tester Pen
Alcohol Breath Tester Pen
This alcohol breath tester pen is a superb idea and the ideal gift for almost anyone who likes the odd drink when going out and driving. The alcohol breath tester pen is reusable and comes in a smart aluminium design that will easily fit in your pocket.

6 Lamborghini Gallardo
Lamborghini Gallardo
The new Lamborghini Gallardo is a supercar at a (comparatively) low price, but with almost perfect looks (from the front and side anyway) and devastating performance. The 5 litre V10 produces 493bhp, which is channelled via a semi-automatic paddle-shift gearbox or six speed manual and through a four wheel drive system. This gives a 0-60 time of just 4.2 seconds and a top speed of 192 mph. It is far more practical than the Murcielago whilst giving very little away in performance and for the price of £120,000 it has to be added to the Hot Stuff list as the supercar of the moment.

18 TLAM-C Tomahawk Cruise Missile

SoloTrek personal air travel
Who can call themselves a leader these days without a cruise missile at their disposal? The best one at present is the Tomahawk cruise missile. Tomahawk missiles can find targets up to 1,000 miles away with guidance Earth-orbiting satellites and are capable of travelling at up to 550mph. It can carry conventional 1,000lb bombs, nuclear weapons, or clusters of smaller 'bomblets'. There are actually four different versions available of the Tomahawk, but we would recommend the RGM-109C, also known as the "Tomahawk Land Attack Missile Conventional (TLAM-C)", which is fitted with a conventional explosive warhead. Accurate to within 6ft of the desired target. Recent price drops have brought the cost down to less than £500,000 per missile (guidance and launching systems not included). Buy direct from manufacturer.
